Bulk updates across branches

Tools to Bulk Edit Multi-Location Listings: Hours, Menus and 21 Other Fields

Change it once. Leave out the ones that are different. Check it landed.

Set new hours or a new menu, pick which branches get it, and send. Leave out the late night site and the branch with no kitchen. Then see which locations took the change and which did not, so a quiet failure never sits there for a month.

The part most tools skip

Bulk is easy. Leaving branches out is the hard part.

Every tool sells you “update all locations at once”. That solves half the job. The other half is that your branches are not the same, and applying one change everywhere breaks the ones that were already right.

Same everywhere

Push to all branches

  • Menu prices. A rise that lands at 1 branch and not the others produces complaints the same afternoon. See bulk menu management
  • Seasonal menu items going on or coming off
  • Business description and brand wording
  • Services you offer everywhere, such as takeaway or table booking
  • Attributes like wheelchair access, if they genuinely apply to all
Never the same

Leave these branches out

  • Opening hours. A shopping centre unit follows centre hours. An airport site may never close
  • Holiday hours. This is where it breaks every single year
  • Kitchen closing time, which is usually earlier than the branch closing time
  • A branch with no kitchen. It should not carry a menu at all
  • Local menu variations, smaller sites and test locations

Group branches once, by region or by type, and the exclusions stop being a decision you make every time. The airport site sits in its own group and never receives the standard hours push again.

Your options

Tools to bulk edit multi-location listings, compared

There are 4 kinds of tool that can change many listings at once. Every one of them can push new hours to a group of branches. Where they differ is the part above: leaving branches out, and telling you which ones took the change.

ToolSuitsWatch out for
Google Business Profile ManagerBrands with 10 or more locations of the same business. You can group branches by chain, region or category and change holiday hours or open and closed status for the whole group.Below 10 locations the bulk tools are not open to you. Each business group needs its own spreadsheet, store codes cannot be changed by spreadsheet, and agencies with more than 1 business in 1 account cannot bulk verify.
The Business Profile APITeams with a developer who want edits to come straight from their own systems. You build it and keep it running. Edits are capped at 10 per minute per profile, a limit Google says cannot be raised, and access needs a profile that has been verified and active for 60 days, plus a website.
Listing sync platformsBrands that need the same details sent to Google and a long list of directories, maps and apps. Yext, Uberall and Moz Local work this way.You pay for the directory reach even when Google is the listing that matters most to you. Leaving 1 branch out of a change and seeing a result per branch works differently on each, so ask to see exactly that in the demo. We compare them in Yext alternatives and Moz Local alternatives.
GBPPromoteGroups of any size that mostly run Google Business Profiles. 23 fields in 1 action, branches left out on purpose, and a result for each branch. It is built around Google Business Profile. If dozens of directories matter as much as Google does, a sync platform may suit you better.

Google limits are from Google’s Business Profile Help Centre and API documentation, accessed September 2026.

What to look for in a tool to bulk edit multi-location listings

Leave branches out

Pick who gets the change, not only “all”. The airport site and the branch with no kitchen should stay as they are.

A result for every branch

A success message for the whole batch hides the 3 branches out of 40 that failed. You want each one listed.

The fields you really change

Hours are the easy one. Check special hours, menus, attributes, categories, photos and links are all in the bulk panel too.

Works at your size

Google’s own bulk tools start at 10 locations. A group of 4 or 6 branches needs a tool with no location minimum.

Access for the right people

The person who knows the hours changed is often a branch manager. If every login costs extra, they end up emailing head office.

A price you can see

If bulk editing sits on an enterprise plan behind a sales call, find out what it costs before you plan around it.

Under 10 branches? Google’s bulk spreadsheet is not open to you, so without a tool every change is made profile by profile. GBPPromote has no location minimum: $16 a month for 1 branch and $37 a month for 2 to 7, with bulk editing on both.
How a bulk update runs

4 steps, about 5 minutes

This is the whole job. The 4th step is the one most tools do not have, and it is the one that saves you.

1

Pick the branches

Choose all of them, or a region, or a saved group. Leave out the sites that are different. Groups are part of multi-location management, so you set them once.

2

Make the change once

New hours, holiday hours, a menu, prices, categories, services or a description. You type it once, not once per branch.

3

Review before sending

See exactly which branches will get it and what will change on each. This is where you catch the airport site being included by mistake.

4

Check every branch took it

After the push, a result for each branch. Done, left out, or failed with a reason. It also appears in your monthly report, so the work is on record.

Step 4 is the one that matters. A bulk push can report success while 4 branches out of 60 quietly did not take the change, usually a permissions problem or a profile under review. Nobody notices until a customer turns up to a closed door and leaves a review about it.

Pick the branches, make the change once, then check branch by branch that it landed.

The one that breaks every year

Holiday hours, and why they catch everybody

This is the single most common complaint a multi branch business gets, and it is entirely preventable in about 20 minutes.

  • Google shows normal hours when no holiday hours are set. So a branch you forgot tells customers it is open on Christmas Day. Google explains special hours in its own Business Profile Help
  • Set the whole year in 1 sitting. Every public holiday, months ahead, while you are thinking about it
  • Do it in bulk, then fix the exceptions. The airport site, the branch inside a shopping centre, anywhere with different rules
  • Set them days early, not the morning of. Google decides when a change appears and it is not always instant
  • Check each branch afterwards. A branch that failed to update is worse than one you never touched, because you believe it is done
What a customer sees
No holiday hours setShows as open
Holiday hours setShows the real hours

There is no middle option. A branch either tells people the truth on a holiday or tells them it is open. That is why the branch you forgot is the one that generates the complaint.

While you are in there

What else you can change in bulk

Hours and menus are what brought you here. These use the same push and the same per branch check, so they cost no extra time.

Categories and services

The single biggest ranking lever most groups have wrong at 1 or 2 sites. Check yours with the free category finder.

Descriptions

Brand wording once, applied everywhere, with local detail left alone.

Photos and video

Upload once and push out. Branches can still add their own on top.

Posts

Write 1 post and publish it to every branch, or only the region it applies to, with the post scheduler.

Attributes

Wheelchair access, outdoor seating, parking, and anything else customers filter by.

Links and booking

Order links, booking links and menu links updated across the group at once.

More hours

Kitchen, delivery, drive through and other service specific times.

Phone numbers

Useful after a phone system change, which is when a lot of branches go wrong at once.

Cost

$37 a month for 2 to 7 branches

Not per branch. Bulk updating is not held back for a bigger plan here, which is worth checking against anything else you are looking at.

BranchesTotal per monthPer branch
1$16$16.00
3$37$12.33
5$37$7.40
7$37$5.29
20$106.60$5.33
60$319.80$5.33

Every tool is included on every plan, team members are unlimited at no extra cost, and there is no minimum number of locations. See full pricing for what a bigger group costs.

Unlimited team members matters more than it sounds. The person who knows the hours changed is usually a branch manager, not whoever owns the account. If seats cost money, they end up sharing 1 login or emailing head office, and that is how a branch ends up with last year’s holiday hours.
FAQs

Bulk editing multi-location listings: common questions

How do I bulk update opening hours across multiple branches?
Pick the branches you want to change, set the new hours once, and send it. The part that matters is being able to leave branches out, because hours are rarely the same everywhere. A late night site, a shopping centre unit and a branch with different weekend hours all need to stay as they are. After the push, check the result for each branch rather than trusting a success message. A failure on 3 branches out of 40 is invisible unless you look. The 4 steps are above.
Can I update menus across all locations at once?
Menu changes usually need to be the same everywhere, which makes them a good fit for bulk work. A price rise that lands at 1 branch and not the others produces complaints the same afternoon. The exceptions are branches with a smaller kitchen, a different local menu, or no food at all, and those need leaving out. Ask us how menu updates work for your business type before planning around it, because menus behave differently from hours in Google Business Profile. More above.
Why do holiday hours cause so many problems?
Because they are set once a year, usually late, usually by somebody rushing. Google shows normal hours when no holiday hours are set, so a branch you forgot will tell customers it is open on Christmas Day. Set them for the whole year in 1 sitting, months ahead. It is 20 minutes of work that prevents the single most common complaint a multi branch business gets.
What happens if a bulk update fails on some branches?
That is the failure that costs money, because nobody sees it. A bulk push can report success while 4 branches out of 60 did not take the change, usually a permissions problem or a profile under review. You get a per branch result after every push showing which took the update and which did not, so you fix those rather than repeating the whole job.
Can I set different hours for the kitchen and the branch?
Google Business Profile supports more hours for specific services, such as a kitchen closing earlier than the venue. Worth setting, because a customer arriving at 10pm for food when the kitchen shut at 9 leaves a bad review about your opening hours, which are technically correct. Set these per branch rather than in bulk, since kitchen times vary more than opening times.
Does Google always show the menu I upload?
Not always, and it is worth knowing. Google can show menu information from other sources including delivery platforms, so what a customer sees is not always what you uploaded. Keeping your own menu current gives Google the best version to use, and gives you something to point at when a third party shows something wrong. No tool, ours or anyone else’s, controls what Google chooses to display.
How much does bulk updating cost?
$37 a month in total for 2 to 7 branches, not per branch. From 8 branches it is $5.33 per branch. A single location is $16. Every tool is included, team members are unlimited, and there is no minimum. Bulk updating is not a higher tier feature here, which is worth checking against any tool you compare us with. Full table above.
How long does a bulk update take to appear on Google?
Usually quickly, but Google decides, not us. Simple changes such as hours normally appear within minutes to a few hours. Bigger changes can be held for review, and a profile that has recently had problems tends to get checked more closely. Make holiday hours changes days ahead rather than the morning of the holiday, and never rely on an update landing within the hour.
What tools let you bulk edit multi-location listings?
GBPPromote does, and so do the enterprise suites: Yext, Uberall, SOCi and Chatmeter. What separates them for a brand with several branches is not whether they can push a change to every listing, because they all can. It is whether you can leave branches out of that push, and whether you are told branch by branch that the change actually landed. GBPPromote does both, across 23 profile fields, with no location minimum and bulk editing included rather than sold as an enterprise extra. All 4 kinds of tool are compared above.
Can I bulk edit Google listings with fewer than 10 locations?
Not with Google’s own bulk tools. Google opens bulk upload to businesses with 10 or more locations of the same business, so a smaller group edits each profile 1 at a time in Business Profile Manager. A third-party tool closes that gap. GBPPromote has no location minimum, so 2 to 7 branches cost $37 a month in total and get the same bulk editing as a group of 200.
