Google Tests Video Ads in Local Search Ads

Google appears to be testing a new local ad format that brings video into Local Search Ads. In simple words, some users may now see video ads inside the local pack, which is the map-based section that often appears when people search for nearby businesses.

This update was spotted by Anthony Higman, who shared on LinkedIn that Google is working on immersive map view videos for PPC ads. He also mentioned that this may be connected to a setting he found earlier inside Location Manager.

From what has been shared so far, this new format seems designed to make local ads more visual and more engaging. Instead of showing only the usual business details, Google may now be testing video content to help those ads stand out more in local search results.

At the same time, these ads appear to be managed through Shared Library, then Location Manager, and then Settings. That suggests advertisers may have some control over this format inside their Google Ads setup.

Right now, it looks like a test and not a full rollout. Still, this could become a big update for local advertisers if Google expands it further. Video content may soon play a bigger role in how businesses get noticed in local search.

If this rolls out widely, businesses running Local Search Ads may need to think more carefully about video strategy for local campaigns. A stronger visual presence could help attract more attention, more clicks, and possibly more local leads.
