Google is trying out a new feature that uses AI to summarize restaurant menus in Google Search and Google Maps. Instead of just showing the full menu, Google now adds short AI-written overviews that highlight menu sections like salads, starters, and entrees.
These summaries may include the number of items available, price ranges, popular dishes, and even photos. The original menu still appears, but the AI adds quick highlights above or between menu sections to help users get a faster idea of what the restaurant offers.
This feature was first noticed by Claudia Tomina. She posted a video on LinkedIn showing how it looks on mobile. When you tap the “Menu” tab in a restaurant listing, you may now see an AI overview of the menu. You can watch the video here: LinkedIn

It’s still unclear if this is powered by Google’s AI menu generator tool for Business Profiles, but it’s likely connected.
This update could make it easier for users to decide where to eat, especially when browsing on the go. Keep an eye out to see if it appears in your local search results.
