Over the past few weeks, many business owners have noticed their Google reviews suddenly disappearing from Google Search and Google Maps. Reports suggest this is not due to spam or policy violations but rather a known bug that Google’s team is currently fixing. Restaurants live on that rating, so the practical move is to keep asking while the count rebuilds. The review request examples for restaurants give you wording to send. If the bug thinned out your count, the way back is asking again, and some fields need care with the wording. Review request examples for doctors are a good place to see that. A bug is only one reason reviews vanish. Before you wait it out, rule out the other causes of disappearing reviews.
The issue first came to light through a post by Jason Brown on the Local Search Forum, where several users complained about missing reviews. He also shared links to multiple Reddit threads filled with business owners facing the same problem. Later, Jason confirmed that Google is aware of the situation and actively working on a solution, calling it a “large-scale issue.” He mentioned that his Local Services Ads representative also confirmed the fix is in progress.
Adding to this, Google Product Expert Yan Gilbert commented on the Google Business Forum, explaining that many businesses have experienced this glitch in the past few days. He believes this is a temporary technical issue and expects it to be resolved soon.
Not sure what’s happening with Google reviews lately. My total count dropped by around 25! All recent reviews from the last 2–3 months are still live, but older ones seem to have disappeared.

Have you heard of anyone else facing this issue? @rustybrick
Several users have shared their frustrations online:
- “Is anyone else noticing their review count dropping each day? I lost 15 today and 8 yesterday.”
- “All 12 of my legitimate reviews disappeared overnight. These are from real clients.”
- “Since October 23, I’ve seen over 70 real reviews vanish from my profile. It’s affecting my business reputation.”
- “From October 13 to 17, several of our Google Business Pages lost verified reviews. We’ve raised a ticket with Google.”
These comments show that both small and large businesses are affected. Some have already contacted Google support, hoping for recovery of their missing reviews.
This isn’t the first time such an issue has occurred. In previous incidents, Google restored lost reviews once the glitch was fixed. So, while this may feel alarming, it seems to be a technical error rather than a policy enforcement action.
Discussions about the issue continue on Local Search Forum, Google Business Forum, and various Reddit threads. Business owners are advised to stay patient as Google works on restoring the missing reviews soon.
