Google is now testing a new change inside Local Service Ads on web search. Instead of showing a “more” results button, Google is only allowing users to expand the list up to eight results. After that, there is no option to click deeper or view additional LSA listings.
This test was first spotted by Anthony Higman, who shared screenshots on X. You can check his post here:

He explained that Google is experimenting with limiting advertisers to an eight-pack on both desktop and mobile. Earlier, you could click “more personal injury lawyers” to open a full twenty-pack. Now, Google only displays a three-pack with a “show more” option that expands to eight results. After it expands, it switches to “show less.”
According to Anthony, this may help reduce choice overload for users. At the same time, it also feels surprising because Google has been rolling out many LSA changes recently, which can be annoying for advertisers.
He also posted screenshots showing the old and new layouts side by side, along with a video demonstrating the test.
WOAH! Google Doing A New Test With Local Services Ads On Both Desktop & Mobile Where They Now Are Trying To Limit The Advertisers To JUST An 8 Pack.

Right now, this test cannot be replicated by everyone. Google often tries limited experiments before launching a bigger update. So for now, the impact on businesses and advertisers is still unclear.
This small change may look simple, but it can affect visibility, clicks, and competition inside Local Service Ads. As Google continues to adjust LSA layouts, advertisers will need to stay updated and monitor performance closely.
