Google Local Results Tests “Check Real-Time Stock” Button

Google seems to be testing a new local search feature that lets users check real-time product stock directly from the local results.

In this test, Google is showing a new button inside the local pack. The button says “Check real-time stock” and appears near the “More places” option. This means searchers may soon be able to check if a nearby store has a product available before visiting the location. Stock checks only matter to businesses that hold stock. For local industries where the listing is the product, see local SEO for real estate.

This can be very useful for customers who do not want to waste time calling stores or visiting different places just to find out that a product is out of stock.

After clicking the button, Google asks the user a question:

Then, Google confirms the store location where the user wants to check product availability:

The feature looks like another step in Google’s effort to connect local search with real store inventory. Instead of only showing nearby businesses, Google may now help users find out what is available at those businesses in real time.

This test also seems connected to Google’s earlier features around calling stores, checking inventory, and tracking prices. Google has been slowly building tools that help users get local shopping information faster. Some people may also remember Ask for Me and Duplex, which were also designed to help users get information from businesses with less manual effort.

For local businesses, this test is important because it shows how Google is making local search more action-based. Searchers are not just looking for business names anymore. They want quick answers, live availability, nearby options, and easy next steps.

So, if this feature rolls out more widely, businesses may need to keep their product inventory, local listings, and store details updated. Accurate information can help customers trust the business and take action faster.
