Google Expands “What’s Happening” Feature in Business Profiles

Google has officially expanded its “What’s Happening” feature in Google Business Profiles to multi-location restaurants and bars across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

When it first launched in May, this feature was limited to single-location restaurants. With the new rollout, businesses can now highlight live events, offers, and specials directly at the top of their Google Business Profiles, helping them drive more walk-ins and engagement.

Lisa Landsman from Google announced the update on LinkedIn and shared that the feature automatically showcases unique specials, live music, and events from Google Posts or connected social media pages. This allows businesses to reach customers at the perfect decision-making moment.

Lisa also noted that setup is simple because the system pulls data automatically from linked accounts. Early testing has shown excellent engagement results, especially for restaurants and bars promoting local events.

For now, this feature is exclusive to restaurants and bars, but Google aims to expand it to more industries soon.
