Google Business Profiles Adds New “Collected Info” Action

Google is adding a new action inside Google Business Profiles called Collected Info. This new feature is designed to help business owners confirm their business details and keep their Business Profile updated for customers.

The update was recently added to Google’s help document under the section Review information collected by Google.

According to Google, this feature is currently available only for select regions, languages, and business categories. So, not every business owner will see it right away.

Google explained that it may sometimes contact a business through automated calls, text messages, or WhatsApp messages. These messages may be sent to the verified phone number listed on the Business Profile. The goal is to confirm business information and help keep the profile accurate, updated, and discoverable for customers.

In simple words, Google may collect updated business information from different sources. This can include the web, phone calls, text messages, or WhatsApp conversations. Then, if Google adds or suggests this information on your Business Profile, you may be able to review and confirm it through the new Collected Info section.

Business owners can find this option by going to their Google Business Profile, selecting Edit profile, and then choosing Collected info.

Review Information

This feature is important because Google often updates Business Profiles based on information it finds from different sources. Sometimes these updates are helpful, but sometimes they may include details that are not fully accurate. With the new Collected Info section, business owners may get more control over what Google has collected and added.

Hiroko Imai also shared details about this update on LinkedIn. According to her post, this update may allow business owners to see the collection date of information changed by Google. It may also show the exact source of the information, such as which calls or messages provided the data.

She also mentioned that if automatic updates include unwanted or incorrect content, business owners may now be able to remove or reject that collected information directly from the management interface.

This could be a useful step for businesses that want better control over their Google Business Profile details. It may also help reduce confusion when Google updates a profile automatically.

The feature may not be visible to everyone yet, but if it becomes widely available, it could make Google Business Profile management more transparent and easier for business owners.

For local SEO teams, agencies, and multi-location brands, this is worth watching closely. Business information changes can affect customer trust, local rankings, calls, directions, and overall profile performance.

The discussion around this update is also happening on LinkedIn.
