Google has started sending email notifications to businesses when review and rating restrictions are lifted from their Google Business Profile. This update helps business owners stay informed about important changes to their profile status. Once a restriction lifts, the profile is yours to build on again. Adding a Book Now button is one place to start.
The email comes directly from the Google Business Profile team and clearly states, “Restrictions on your reviews and ratings have been removed.” As a result, businesses no longer have to keep checking their profile manually to see if the restriction is gone.
This update was first noticed by Joy Hawkins, who shared the news on X. She mentioned that Google is now notifying account owners as soon as review restrictions are removed.
She also shared a screenshot of the email to confirm the change:

For context, Google has been applying review and rating restrictions for the past few years. These limits are usually placed when Google detects unusual activity or policy concerns. Earlier, Google only showed a notice inside the business profile when restrictions were active.
Now, with this new email alert, businesses are informed the moment those restrictions are lifted. This makes it easier to track profile health and resume normal review activity without confusion.
