Google Ads has started rolling out a new channel option that lets advertisers show Demand Gen ads directly on Google Maps. With this update, some advertisers can now select Maps as a placement inside their Google Ads Demand Gen campaigns.
This means Demand Gen ads are no longer limited to platforms like YouTube, Discover, or Gmail. Instead, they can also appear while users explore locations and businesses on Google Maps, which can help brands reach people with strong local intent.
The update was spotted by several PPC and ads experts, including Meg Erickson, Jyll Saskin Gales, Adrian Dekker, Thomas Eccel, and Francesca Poles.
Screenshots shared by advertisers show a new placement option where Google Maps can be selected directly within Demand Gen settings. However, this feature does not appear to be available to all accounts yet, which suggests a gradual rollout.

For advertisers, this update could open new opportunities to reach users at the exact moment they are searching for places, services, or directions.
